Questions for Pharmac as lung cancer patients continue to die prematurely

We have written to the Health Select Committee, further to our petition, urging that lung cancer be declared a national health priority and for the three remaining treatments we recommended last March be funded in 1st line for lung Cancer.

Key facts –
– Lung cancer patients suffer premature death in New Zealand, because they DO NOT have access to drugs that work (unless they can pay for treatment in private practice).
– For 80% of patients diagnosed with lung cancer in NZ – Access to Treatment is Access to LIFE.
– Right now 1700 patients in New Zealand DO NOT have an effective first line treatment for advanced lung cancer.
